The Pre-Sales Engineer (PSE) brings a combination of sales, process, analytical, and tech-savvy capabilities to demonstrate how our product works and engage customers in matching solutions to solve their business issues and needs. The PSE is a high impact and critical role with a primary focus to work collaboratively with sales, marketing, product management, product development, and services teams to provide functional and technical expertise in facilitating customer presentations, scoping, and closing of new logo deals and achievement of associated revenue goals.

Essential Functions

  •  Engage as part of the sales team to help drive new logo sales, providing technical expertise, hands on solution development and customer focus to meet and exceed revenue goals.
  • Supports sales by coordinating and executing all pre-sales and pursuit activities that include discovery support through needs analysis; pursuit strategy, demonstration, support presentation creation, value proposition positioning, and creation of work (SOW’s).
  • Attend client meetings, listen and work to clearly understand clients’ technical and business challenges
  • Conduct product demonstrations to exhibit the Savigent platform’s functionality and value proposition to potential customers and partners. Engaging and educating customers on our unique approach to solving their business challenges in their journey towards smart manufacturing and industry 4.0 by thinking and acting differently.
  • Collaborate and partner with SME’s, solution architects, and product development team members to develop solutions and technical approaches to identify, communicate and solve customer challenges.
  • Assist services team with outlining high-level project plans to showcase the implementation process and engage input for SOW creation.
  • Be available to support implementation efforts with new clients as needed (e.g., participating and leading kick-off calls, outlining initial project plans to establish project timelines, account set-up requirements based on discovery, etc.).
  • Provide industry subject matter expertise in enhancing current, and developing new, Savigent solutions. Become a trusted advisor by contributing to account management efforts to establish and maintain critical relationships with customer pursuits.
  • Provide insights to product management and product development and offer ideas to product improvements.
  • Support the writing and delivery of proposals, providing expert opinion to technical and non-technical client audiences within the organization.
  • Develop and maintain a live demo server that can be used to show platform functionality and use cases.
  • Identify and communicate with the sales team with regards to new business opportunities.

Skills and knowledge most relevant to the position

  • Software and Services presales support experience in driving sales pursuits and closing of new business.
  • C Sharp & sequel programming skills, .NET knowledge/understanding; technical development skills.
  •  Ability to communicate with customers at all levels (C level, directors, plant individuals, etc.).
  •  Experience in manufacturing, supply chain or similar technical industry
  •  Business process transformation, business analysis, workshop delivery skills are a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, partner with and manage work activities, meet deadlines, and provide status reports to different stakeholders
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

Basic Qualifications

  • Degree, BS or equivalent four-year degree preferred, specifically within an engineering or IT field or a closely related technical focus strongly preferred. MBA is a plus
  •  3+ years related technical engineering experience, working with presenting, and selling a software product.
  •  3+ years of operations experience, preferably in the manufacturing space.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing industry-specific business issues and drivers, Industry 4.0, Smart Manufacturing.
  • Operate independently under predetermined goals and a proven ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment, requiring creativity and independent judgment.

  •  Ability to travel 10-25+% or as needed.
