Gartner Identifies Savigent Software as a Representative Vendor in Market Guide for Manufacturing Execution Systems Software

BLOOMINGTON, MINN. – Savigent Software, Inc., a leading provider of event-driven manufacturing operations management software, has been identified as a Representative Vendor in the “Best-of-Breed MES Vendor” category in the Market Guide for Manufacturing Execution Systems Software by Gartner, the world’s leading information technology research and advisory company. Manufacturing executives are looking to manufacturing execution systems to maintain their competitive edge.  The Market Guide will assess the state of the Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) market and will make recommendations for pursuing the deployment of MES applications.

David Wicker, President and Chief Executive Officer of Savigent Software, stated, “At Savigent we help our clients understand the big picture when it comes to automation – considering every detail from the plant floor through the supply chain, enabling better decision-making, reducing errors and driving optimization. We believe that our view of MES as a total enterprise solution rather than a plant-specific individual tool is recognized and highlighted in Gartner’s market guide.”

Implementation of the Savigent Software suite of products results in a manufacturing operation that is digitally connected from the manufacturing plant to the overall business enterprise systems. This IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) connectivity enables access to meaningful data – including production data, supply chain data and quality data – to inform crucial business decisions.

Wicker continued, “We believe that Gartner’s guide details findings that we’ve seen with our own clients again and again: that a well-executed MES system dramatically improves manufacturing quality, increases visibility and enforces best practices across the entire network.”

The Savigent software suite provides workflow automation, manufacturing intelligence and system integration solutions. The product suite meshes SOA and Web 2.0 constructs to help manufacturing organizations drive processes across siloed applications. At the core of the software is a workflow engine that can be configured to take input from a wide variety of devices and applications to make decisions on what events/alarms should take place based on these conditions.

The Gartner report advises the following: “Don’t default to your ERP or PLM provider’s MES solution; do a market review and full selection process to get the right solution. Talk to current customers, and get a sense of how well the vendor executes against its technology vision.”

“Unlike stand-alone or pre-integrated applications, Savigent provides a complete software solution that enables real-time access to meaningful business intelligence,” Wicker said. “And Savigent Platform integrates with existing systems, eliminating the need to remove or replace legacy systems.”

The Gartner report defines MES as “a specialist class of production-oriented software that manages, monitors and synchronizes the execution of real-time, physical processes involved in transforming raw materials into intermediate and/or finished goods. These systems coordinate this execution of work orders with production scheduling and enterprise level systems like enterprise resource planning like ERP and product life cycle management (PLM). MES applications also provide feedback on process performance, and support component and material level traceability, genealogy and integration with process history, where required.”
